November 6, 2016

Aloha readers! On last October 6th - 7th, 2016, I went to Bandung with friends for a short getaway before starting work life (tee-hee!) I want to share with you what to do in Bandung if you have very short time like me... for 2 days! We went to a total of 5 places: 1 restaurant, 2 art spaces, and 2 tourist attraction places. So let's jump to the list!

1. Miss Bee Providore

Since the post will be long, I have separated it so I recommend you to click this link that will redirect you to Miss Bee Providore post, thank you!

2. Lawangwangi Creative Space & Cafe

Lawangwangi started in 2010 as an art space and gallery, they launched their very own cafe in 2012. Unfortunately, there isn't any exhibition when we went there (should've called or checked the schedule before going here, I recommend). You can also check their Instagram or which is their official website, I love their website layout so artsy! Haha.

So instead, we try looking around at their souvenir shop and spend time at the cafe (all free entrance!). They sell local brand stuffs at the souvenir shop such as clothes, bags, handmade jewelries, key chains, to stickers. Lawangwangi has this famous 'photo spot' where you can see beautiful view from the hills. Quite eye-pleasing!

Next, we went to their cafe which has a really nice view of upper Bandung Utara. The cafe is located at the 2nd floor, divided into indoor and outdoor area. We sat outdoor in order to see more of the view. It was very cold when we went there because of rainy season. Even after sipping our hot chocolate, the cold just won't let go >_<

Hot Chocolate & Hot Coffee | 3.0 / 5
The drinks were decent. Too bad we didn't try any of their dish. I heard that their food is pretty awesome, a fusion of Bandung taste with a touch of Asian and Western food. Will make sure to try it next time!

3. Selasar Sunaryo - Contemporary Art Space
When we arrived here, the only room open for exhibition is the main room located at the front entrace. Maybe it is because we came on weekdays early October which is not 'high-season' when people go to Bandung for vacation. Selasar Sunaryo Art Space consists of many rooms which exhibit Mr. Sunaryo's artworks. You can look around the place by yourself or you can ask the employee there to guide you and explain about the pieces. It is a worth place to visit!

4. De' Ranch
Our airbnb host suggested us to go to De' Ranch and Farm House in 1 day because they are located near each other at Lembang, Bandung. But we didn't go to Farm House since we spent too much time at De' Ranch hahaha. By the way, for affordable place to stay we chose to spend the night at Zenrra House from Airbnb for around IDR 400,000 per night (a room up to 4 - 5 person).

Back to the topic, we went to De' Ranch and I was soooo amazed by the view! One of the best view I've ever seen lol I feel like I'm at New Zealand HAHAHA. The entrance ticket is about IDR 10,000 but I forgot so I'm not sure hehehehe, it includes strawberry or vanilla milk as welcome drink.

De' Ranch itself started in 2007 as horse-breeding and cattle farm. It developed into tourist attraction that offer an experience of an American cowboy while riding horse around the place whilst enjoying the scenery. For little kids, don't worry you can ride the small horse (pony!) and other attraction such as ride delman, swings, see-saw, water ballons, etc. To ride a horse (also other games), you must pay again IDR 25,000 includes cowboy attribute (hat, shoes, jacket) that you can wear while riding the horse :D

they sell small cactus outside the entrance of De' Ranch

There is also food court that sells variety of Bandung - Indonesian food such as batagor, siomay, rawon, sop iga, sate, roti bakar, nasi goreng, and many more! So, don't worry you won't be hungry after having fun here. Overall, the food is pretty good. I'd rank my batagor and sate 4.0 / 5 :)

5. Rumah Guguk
I finally went to Rumah Guguk!!! This is literally heaven for dog lovers where you can play with many many very cute (moslty) small dogs that are friendly with only IDR 20,000 as entrance fee. Don't worry, the dogs are all tame and vaccinated.

Rumah Guguk started as a petshop and you can still bring your own dog here to get treatment or to play at swimming pool for dog :D There is also little cafe and shop that sells dogs and cats supplies so you can spend your time while waiting for your little fluffy friend!

When I went there, the only big dog that I encountered is Hiro the Alaskan Malamute. I was honestly so scared of big dogs, not to mention Alaskan Malamute which is extremely big..... But to my surprise, Hiro is so well-behaved and lovely! The employee there said that actually Alaskan Malamute is more calm than Siberian Husky who are more active. I'm writing this while literally smiling, I miss Hiro he changed my perspective of Alaskan Malamutes :))
